“Kölsch” is really an exceptional type of light beer. In brewing it, the TOP fermenation is used, but the maturation process is that of a lager. It is only ever brewed in the city of Köln (Cologne), Germany, and has its own EU geographical denomination.

Well, and the GAFFEL brewery itself is situated smack-bang in the centre of Köln and is probably the most beloved and respected one – a family business with a broad smile. We are honestly quite proud to be the representatives of this wonderfully light, clean, yet so flavoursome and character-laden beer in Lithuania!

We suggest you enjoy The Kölsch in a manner favoured by the Kölners themselves: in a small glass, a lot of, and pronto. The brewers at GAFFEL put it quite succinctly: “Any Kölsch, ESPECIALLY GAFFEL should not prolong its stay in your glass for more than 6 minutes. Otherwise, you are not worthy of drinking Kölsch...”

STRAFFE HENDRIK TRIPEL:

“The Mighty Hendrik” is justifiably well known for its… tenderness. A huge achievement by the DE HALVE MAAN family beer brewery, arriving straight from the legendary and fairy-tale (even sugar-sweet) beautiful, yet authentic little town of Bruges, in tasty Belgium.

The Looks: due to its second fermentation in the bottle (“bottle conditioning”), this Belgian “tripel” fashionista is brewer-like cloudy-golden, with an impressively sturgy head.

The Character: has a fruity-spicy aroma and a manifold, very peculiar sweet & bitter aftertaste. At the beginning of the acquaintance one feels the nuances of ginger, roasted black pepper, coriander, even orange. Afterwards: a sincere hug of six different malts, with Saaz and Styrian hops to boot. Then: a gentle bitterness, a pleasant “dryness”, a freshness of citrus and a sweetness of nano-banana. As per beer of this strength, the tenderness is simply outstanding.

A complex character, yet a sincere friendship.
