    The Arrival...

In the faraway 1960s London’s centre, Soho district was, for the lack of a better word, a rather uninviting place… Then the first strip-revue was opened by one Paul Raymond (1925-2008). Then he opened one more, then a club, then one more, and more bars, and more, and then some. The publication of porno magazines, films, comedy theatres and… the real estate boom ensued, at the investment epicenter of which was the newly nominated “King of Soho” – Paul Raymond…

For your discerning attention: the gin created by Raymond’s son Howard and la magicienne of international business, the charming Alex Robson. The gin to honour Howard’s famous father’s memory. The gin created in Soho, in the very heart of London. These days the area is pulsating with jazz music, literature, film, food, drink and creative joie de vivre, beloved by various artists and other night-time adventurers.

THE KING OF SOHO is a high level gin which chimes wonderfully with a slice of fresh pink grapefruit and a serious tonic water. The legend conceived by the legendary.

The Aroma  is intriguing yet very gentle, with a bright citrus note and a truly elegant, not overpowering whiff of juniper. One feels it outright: this is a different level, a cleanliness of taste and a true luxury.

The Taste is as light as a summer breeze. Given the honest strength of the drink, the alcohol is almost imperceptible and it is yet another of this outstanding gin’s secrets. Just some merry nuances of citrus and other gin constituents in the glass. A lot of elementary good taste and impeccable manners. The gin to be enjoyed to the full. By those who can afford to.

    The Arrival...

This – the naturally strawberry version of the legendary KING OF SOHO gin, complementing the palette of life’s colours sublimely. A drink with summer’s coquettishness, presenting a sunny smile even on the gloomiest of Mondays.

Variorum is a Latin expression for the original work of literature published with all editions and notes. Thus, the gin is named to honour the rich literary life and heritage in London’s Soho district.

The drink very naturally becomes the romantics, the lunatics, the loverbirds, the dancers, the thinkers, the writers and other naughty types.

In a glass, VARIORUM reveals itself at its best when paired with slices of fresh strawberry, a couple of leaves of fresh mint, with some serious tonic water.

The Aroma is intriguing but does not twist one’s nose with its “berryness” – it is reigned in and modest. Because it is natural. A calm sweetness and THE KING OF SOHO’s trademark citrus can be detected through the fragrance of strawberries.

The Taste is not in your face and not “perfumed” - just pleasantly creamy, round and balanced. Some connoisseurs are discovering chamomile, while we ourselves also feel a subtle hint of lavender…

The alcohol content is reduced on purpose so that this playful gin can be enjoyed for a long time, sensibly and gently.
