The Aroma is refreshingly blossoming and subtly hoppy.

The Taste secret is created with a couple of hop varieties, the names of which the monks of the abbey keep to themselves (obviously). The dry-hopping plays its part, too. The first impression is sweetish and malty, but right afterwards the gentle bitterness of hops, the freshness and the crispness of this exclusive beer all kick in. A lot of taste and memorable taste at that.

“Kölsch” is really an exceptional type of light beer. In brewing it, the TOP fermenation is used, but the maturation process is that of a lager. It is only ever brewed in the city of Köln (Cologne), Germany, and has its own EU geographical denomination.

Well, and the GAFFEL brewery itself is situated smack-bang in the centre of Köln and is probably the most beloved and respected one – a family business with a broad smile. We are honestly quite proud to be the representatives of this wonderfully light, clean, yet so flavoursome and character-laden beer in Lithuania!

We suggest you enjoy The Kölsch in a manner favoured by the Kölners themselves: in a small glass, a lot of, and pronto. The brewers at GAFFEL put it quite succinctly: “Any Kölsch, ESPECIALLY GAFFEL should not prolong its stay in your glass for more than 6 minutes. Otherwise, you are not worthy of drinking Kölsch...”

THE CAP OF AROMA: the first notes immediately reveal the breeze of refreshing fruits along with some naughty spices.

THE BELLS OF TASTE: the harmony is rather complex, veering towards the very subtle bitterness. The finish even has a hint of some gentle lemon zest. The beer is brewed with 4 different malts and 2 kinds of aromatic hops, which endow “THE JESTER” with unforgettable liveliness.

THE MERRIMENT WITH FOOD: it does enhance the various crustacean and fish dishes quite remarkably, and also goes very well with beef and game.

THE CAP OF AROMA: the distinctive nuances are brought forward by the use of Chech Saaz hops. A whiff of exotic spices and fried bananas can be traced throughout. There is also some nuts and burnt sugar tingling the nose.

THE BELLS OF TASTE: it is brewed with 6 different malts: the connoisseurs taste some honey, almonds, chocolate and even a touch of brown sugar. “THE BLACK JESTER” is famous for its glowing warmth caressing the throat, with a vividly hoppy finish. The long aftertaste rewards with liquorice and even a hint of freshly roasted coffee.

The viscous and the mighty one, usually reserved for the end of the feast, maybe even with/instead of a dessert?.. Or simply: for the more serious lover of DARK beer.

The Aroma has the intrinsic nuances of caramel, coffee and chocolate. Also, a delicate presence of licorice and coriander is felt throughout.

The Taste is a la mocha “mellow” at first, with a gradual bitterness cutting through, all the while underlying the notes of roasted and chocolate malt. The finish is long and memorable with its subtle equilibrium of bitterness, sourness and sweetness, dressed with roasted fruit.

“The Silver Jumbo” was created to celebrate the 25th anniversary of DELIRIUM TREMENS, and everybody loved its difference so much that the recipe endured. This is a dark amber-coloured IPA style, intense beer, dedicated to the more demanding connoisseur.

The Aroma brings you red grapefruit laced with a touch of toffee.

The Taste also reveals sharpish citrus and spices, while the finish is remarkably long-lasting, complex (because of malt and yeast), with a profoundly pronounced bitter-sweetness.

An elegantly delirious red berry and fruit bonanza with a dash of extravaganza. It is rather imperative to understand – this is a rich, fulsome BEER (and strictly NOT some fizzy alcopop).

The Aroma will reveal slightly sour wild cherries with a touch of black currant and even some almonds…

The Taste is zingy sweetish and fruity at first. Then some elderberry shines through and the aftertaste gradually gets drier and yeasty. An excellent refreshment on a sunny day or after a job well done and a hearty dinner.
